Update - June 2017
Over the last two months we have had more funding success:
EVERY LITTLE REALLY DOES HELP!
We are delighted to announce that we have won the voting competition in local Tesco stores, and we have been pledged £5,000 towards new benches for the grounds of Chestnut Grove Academy! Thank you to all of you who have voted for us - it really does show that every little bit that people can do helps the school. We will be using the funds to purchase recycled benches for the new grounds and the funding comes from the 5p tax introduced in October 2015.
NEW STATE OF THE ART SPORTS FACILITIES FOR CHESTNUT GROVE
We are equally delighted to announce that following our move into the new buildings, a new multipurpose surface sports pitch will be built in the new grounds thanks to funding from the London Marathon Charitable Trust. This is thanks to a succesful grant of £117,000 and will enable the school to offer new curricular and extracurricular sports onsite, as well as offering more for the local community. As part of the project, local community groups will be able to hire the pitch for free outside of school hours. For any information about this, please contact Sharon on email@example.com
We have managed to beat the number of Sainsbury's Vouchers that we have collected in previous years which is amazing.
The total collected is: 26,706 which is 4,000 more than we collected in 2015! Thank you to all of you that have collected and donated. With the vouchers we are getting the equipment which will make sure our Food Tech Room in the new building is fully equiped, for some additional catering equipment, and also for some sensory equipment to add value to the support that we can provide to a wide range of students. I look forward to posting some photographs when it is complete!
The winning tutor group will be announced in the newsletter.

Next time you are in TESCO……………
We have been working hard to get new equipment for the grounds when the existing school is demolished and we are delighted to let you know that we are now in the voting process at TESCO for up to £5,000, which would provide us with 12 new benches!
In order to do this, we need YOUR votes in March and April! So if you are shopping in any of the stores below – please get your green token and put it in our box! (You do not need to buy a carrier bag to get a token, you should get one with ANY transaction).

Chestnut21 - January Update
Sainsbury's Active Kids is back!
Can we beat the 22,000 we collected in 2015? This year we can swap the tokens for sports equipment, cookery equipment and outdoor adventure equipment such as DofE. Please collect tokens and hand them into the office in an envelope marked with your child's year group. We will announce the year group that has collected the most at the end of each month. The last collection month will be June 2017.
Would you like a bit of 'That old Chestnut'?
We are aware that there are many staff, students and alumni that might like to keep a bit of the old school beforee it is demolished. We are trying our hardest to accomodate this, and to raise some funds at the same time!
If there is something that you or your child would like to keep from the existing buildings (we have requests from room number signs to pictures) Please can you register your interest by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org . We will try to accomodate as much as we can, but we do need to take into account any logistics.
- If this is an item that you would like just as a memory/keepsake – then we will be asking for a donation to be made via the Friends of Chestnut Grove Virgin Giving page
PLEASE DO NOT DONATE UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN CONTACTED AND YOUR REQUEST CONFIRMED
- Some larger items will have a guide donation – other smaller ones will be at your discretion.
- If this item is to be of use for a school department e.g. wood or metal that can be stripped and used as material for DT etc, then obviously that would not require a donation.
At this stage, we are just making a list and later we will see what is logistically possible. If you do want to keep something - please can you email Sharon Noble the following:
Name, item required, where located (please be exact as possible), what is it for (personal/school use)
Please feel free to pass this onto ex-staff/parents/alumni that may be interested - thank you!
The art pavilions have been given a fresh coat of paint and a new floor, thanks to funding from the Garfield Weston Foundation and a donation of time and materials from City Square Solutions. I think you will agree this gives them a new and fresh feel - and coupled with the work to ensure they are better insulated and heated they are now a much better facility for the art department.
