In Year 10 begin their courses with informal assessments by the class teacher. As the year progresses these become more rigorous and formal.
Students are assessed at the end of the year in formal examinations which are conducted in the same setting as the GCSE exams.
During Year 11, in addition to the classroom assessments, students have two sets of formal examinations. The mocks exams which take place before the Christmas break, and the Pre Public Exams which take place in March.
During year 10 and 11 students complete controlled assessments in the subjects that have these. Controlled assessment is completed in examination conditions.
